Stolen Game Consoles? Social media marketing to the rescue!
Recently some guy stole several game consoles from a Carolinas kids cancer center (WSOCTV via Kotaku). Now the story itself is pretty sad, however the updates have been very good! Electronic Arts is replacing the consoles and supplying Carolinas Medical Center with new games. Further the Halo Waypoin team at Microsoft also mentioned they would be sending in some gifts/replacements as well.
So you think you bricked your SD card?

So you just installed the latest hottest ChromiumOS build or one of Hexxeh’s custom ChromiumOS builds (or some other bootable linux distro on it like ubuntu, Mandriva Flash, Pendrivelinux, etc.) on your SD card and it didn’t go over well. The next logical thing to do is to reclaim the space on your SD card, so you stick the SD card back in your windows machine and your only able to reformat it to a fraction of its previous size or worse it’s not even loading up. So by now you’ve come to the conclusion that you somehow manage to brick(kill) your SD or microSD card. And now you can’t use it on your windows machine anymore. You can’t reformat it, you can’t access it, and you can’t see it. All hope seemes to be lost. Well, it turns out there is a very simple fix.
altforge Remote PHP File Grabber 4.1
This program is a minimalistic file grabber that I found online, and Steve Rolfe fixed/modified. It allows you to remotely “download” or move multiple files to your server that are stored and accessible on other servers. All you need is the http address of the file, and then you can download it straight to your server.
Note: remote php file grabber is GPL software: you are free to use, modify, copy, and redistribute this software. However if you do redistribute it we simply ask you link back to it’s original source (here). This software has been made for legitimate uses, and we are not responsible for any illegitimate uses of it.

Basic Tutorial on website, template, and theme optimization
This article is on the basics of template optimization that I leanred from my previous project templize. This method works for any CMS and any template: WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, Xoops, Mambo, e107, Plone, etc.
It will probably take you about a half hour to compress your first template (but time varies based on how complex your template is, such as types, etc etc.) The process takes a little getting used to, but is well worth the time.
Update: I wrote this article over a year ago, so if there are any issues please feel free to comment and let me know!
Templize is now altforge!
Just another quick update, I have merged all the important files from Templize to the downloads directory on this site.
Templize will now point to this site. I have redirected all of the download links within the joomla extension directory to altforge.
Since I won’t be actively be optimizing WordPress templates, I will post the end all guide to template optimization in the next week or so. Which will be a very comprehensive guide on how to optimize themes for maximum speed/efficiency for your own website.
Joomla PNG-lite Joomla 1.5 Plugin
Looking for some extra speed? Already do all the optimization you can possibly think of for Joomla 1.5? Well this may be perfect for you!
Joomla PNG-lite icons are a direct swap for Joomla Core PNG icons, the icons appear the same in every possible way including quality. These images were compressed based off the Template optimization guide I wrote that can be applied to just about any template to make them significantly smaller. They also work with any front end template and will not compromise security in any way. This method can also be applied to even Admin templates.

Joomla PNG-Lite Joomla 1.0 Plugin
Looking for some extra Joomla 1.0 speed? Already do all the optimization you can possibly think of for Joomla? Well this may be perfect for you! The Joomla 1.0.x PNG Lite only effects backend load times, NOT front end! This is only due to the fact that Joomla 1.0 does not come with any core PNG files that are loaded via the front end (except template png files).
Joomla PNG-Lite icons are a direct swap for Joomla 1.0 core png icons, the icons appear the same in every possible way including quality. They are however significantly smaller! These images were compressed using the same methods that I explain in the Template optimization guide I wrote that can be applied to just about any template to make them significantly smaller.

Metascore Button Joomla 1.5 Plugin
This Joomla editor plugin was created for users who use the Metascore Plugin on their Joomla based website. The original Metascore plugin was originally developed by Mr. Ayan Debnath and this plugin simply adds on to what he has done. This addon has been verified by the Joomla Extension Directory. Users must install the MetascorePlugin extension in order for this button to have any functional use. You can download the required Meta Score Plugin here:Joomla Extension Directory
To use this plugin you must install and publish the Metascoreplugin to your site. Following that you can install and publish the Metascorebutton plugin. After installing and publishing it a Metascorebutton will appear below your text editor; enabling you to quickly and easily insert the Metascoreplugins code into your content. This is a great little time saver.
