Top 3 WordPress Plugins, you can not live without
So your serious about your WordPress site? Well I am too! I’v'e been working heavily with WordPress since 2009 and its a very powerful, flexible platform. But it does not include 3 MAJOR addon’s that you should not be without.
1. BackWpPup
3. WP Minify
A little PHP code that saved me alot of SQL work
For the past few months I have been basically building from scratch the web infrastructure for Arcanatura. I have been primarily developing the U.S. website. But I also had to do a basic install that would be ready for our translators to translate and write topics for spanish speakers. The major problem was though that UTF-8_general_ci does not support special often commonly used Spanish langauge characters. So I had the issue of converting our wordpress install into a spanish ready database.
95% Blog Abandonment, Nah . . . I just got hired, and I’m back!
A recent mashable article reminded me, I’ve forgotten about my blog since May! But I have not joined the 95% of people that abandon their blogs! So now I’m back to bring my blog up to speed. And give a little preview to some of my posts to come.
June 15th, I started my dream job, I’m not making six figures, but I am doing exactly what I wanted to do: working for a seed funded high tech startup. I was hired into Arcanatura LLC an international company that has been creating and developing all natural clinically proven products for the animal health market. I’m joining a company that been in the “game” for over 3 years and is now ready to push into the U.S. market. We are pursuing a e-commerce only sales model, which is where I come in as the first hire(Web Marketing Manager) to begin a rapid development of the website, eCommerce, and social media platforms!
Basic Tutorial on website, template, and theme optimization
This article is on the basics of template optimization that I leanred from my previous project templize. This method works for any CMS and any template: WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, Xoops, Mambo, e107, Plone, etc.
It will probably take you about a half hour to compress your first template (but time varies based on how complex your template is, such as types, etc etc.) The process takes a little getting used to, but is well worth the time.
Update: I wrote this article over a year ago, so if there are any issues please feel free to comment and let me know!
Templize is now altforge!
Just another quick update, I have merged all the important files from Templize to the downloads directory on this site.
Templize will now point to this site. I have redirected all of the download links within the joomla extension directory to altforge.
Since I won’t be actively be optimizing WordPress templates, I will post the end all guide to template optimization in the next week or so. Which will be a very comprehensive guide on how to optimize themes for maximum speed/efficiency for your own website.
Welcome, Will be live shortly
Welcome to my new blog altforge. I’m currently working on combining my existing blog templize.com (mostly to keep the downloads alive). Please feel free to check out the about page.
