About

My name is Josh Perron, and this is my blog. This blog is primarily about reflecting on what I have learned as an entrepreneur. The purpose is simply to provide the perspective I have gained from being closely involved with creating, consulting, and researching for startup businesses. You will find posts on the following topics, Website Optimization, Website Organization/Theory, Social Media, Startup Businesses, and other related topics.

Background:

I am rather fresh into the professional world as I graduate from the University of Connecticut’s School of Business in December 2010. I have been very fortunate as I have been working full time for the past year at the University of Connecticut as a research analyst at the Connecticut Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation; where I have gotten to work with 3 high tech startups on a variety of topics.

  • All Natural Life Science Pet Products (Fall 2010) – Developing Exclusive Web Only Marketing Plan
  • Web 2.0 SMS/Text information retrieval platform (Summer 2010) – Researched the feasibility of SMS applications
  • Collaborative Web Based Digital Study Tools (Spring 2010) – Heavy Market Research Distributed Surveys to 150k + University students

From these experiences I have learned about everything from presentation skills to in depth company, competitor, and market analysis.

Some of the major side projects that I have worked on are:

  • Mazda626.net – A ~26,000 member  forum dedicated to discussion on the Mazda 626 about performance, repair, and other technical topics.
  • Share Detective – Piracy Data collection used not for legal purposes, but to understand trends and methods of reducing piracy. This made it to the finals in the 2009 CT Business Plan Competition
  • Templize – Template Optimization Project, PreOptimizing WordPress, Joomla, etc templates for faster load times
  • irlike – real world “liking” of object using QR code technologies

Only Mazda626.net remains active, and Templize will be absorbed into this blog in the form of written guides/tutorials.

Hi, thanks for the good works! Now that you are “back,” any chance you will be updating your extensions (Rok My Buton, for instance) for 1.7?

    Thaks agani,
